The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated weekly at Bethany.
All baptized children of God (all ages) are welcome to the Lord's Table.
On Sunday, September 30 as we Observe the 19th Sunday After Pentecost we will be having as our special guest, Deacon Mitzie Shafer, ELCA Foundation Regional Gift Planner for both the North and South Carolina Synods. She is an avid quilter, but her calling with the ELCA assigned to our region is to assist persons in planning how to make current gifts as well as how to make ongoing gifts to the organizations, agencies, and ministries about which people are passionate. She can also assist folks make plans that can best benefit those organizations, agencies, and ministries. In the coming weeks she will be assisting the Congregation Council and the ad hoc Long Term Planning Committee to establish a gifts policy. Mitzie often asks, "Would your congregation know what to do if you received the gift of a yellow submarine. What would you do with it?" She does not work on commission, but she can help gift recipients and donors navigate the treacherous legalities of planned giving that will serve as an ongoing gift to those groups that we care about.
On Sunday, September 16, the 17th Sunday After Pentecost we will observe Home Coming Sunday. We will be Commissioning Stephen Ministers and celebrating 108 years in the Gospel Ministry at Bethany. Our Guest Preacher will be Pastor Greg Williams who presently serves Grace Lutheran Church, Hendersonville, NC. Pastor Greg served Bethany 1995-2005. He is married to Brenda (Elliott) Williams.
